Pete Weber leads PBA Senior U.S. Open at Suncoast

Pete Weber led a group of Hall of Famers holding down the top five spots Thursday after the fifth round of the Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open at Suncoast Bowling Center.
With a 5-3 record after the first match-play round and an 8,042 pinfall total, Weber had a 129-pin lead over Norm Duke, who was 7-1 with a 7,913 pinfall.
Brian Voss is third with a 5-3 record and 7,639 pinfall, followed by Walter Ray Williams Jr. (4-3-1, 7,599) and two-time defending champion Amleto Monacelli (4-4, 7,576). All five are in the Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Fame and have combined for 165 tour titles.
Ron Mohr of North Las Vegas is 14th at 4-4 and 7,307, and Eric Forkel of Las Vegas is 18th at 4-4 and 7,231.
Match play continues at 7 a.m. Friday, with the top four advancing to the stepladder finals at 4 p.m.
