Purcey sharp in pitching 51s past Colorado Springs

David Purcey pitched seven shutout innings Sunday in leading the 51s to a 6-4 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in a Pacific Coast League game in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Purcey (2-1) retired 12 of the first 13 batters he faced and allowed more than one baserunner in only one of the first seven innings, after which Las Vegas (26-38) led 6-0.

He exited with two on and two out in the eighth, and the Sky Sox (36-27) promptly strung together three straight run-scoring hits off reliever Bryan Bullington, including a two-run double by Matt Miller.

Closer Jeremy Accardo then entered and shut out Colorado Springs over the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his ninth save.

Purcey was charged with two runs on four hits and three walks in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out nine.

David Dellucci, in his second game with the 51s, went 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly. His leadoff single in the fourth sparked a three-run inning.

Aaron Mathews, who also went 2-for-4, was the only other Las Vegas player with multiple hits. Mathews, J.P. Arencibia, Kevin Howard and Angel Sanchez each drove in one run for the 51s.

Sky Sox starter Matt Belisle (0-1) gave up five runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.
