Round Rock’s big fifth inning dooms 51s

Mark Saccomanno and Josh Paul each hit a two-run single in the fifth inning Friday to help the Round Rock Express to a 6-3 Pacific Coast League victory over the 51s in Round Rock, Texas.
Saccomanno finished 3-for-4, including an RBI single in the first inning and a solo homer in the seventh.
Las Vegas (14-14) had taken a 2-1 lead after Terry Tiffee's RBI double in the fourth and a double-play grounder that scored John-Ford Griffin, who led off with a double, in the fifth.
Jason Repko hit his fourth homer of the season, a solo shot in the eighth, for the 51s' other run. Five of Las Vegas' seven hits were singles, and no player had more than one hit.
Chad Reineke (1-3) pitched the first five innings for the Express (10-17) and got the win after giving up two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out three.
Jon Meloan (2-2) lost after giving up five runs on six hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out eight.
