Saints to play for girls title

Randall Van Kempen had 28 points Friday to lead Mountain View's girls to a 72-33 basketball win over Indian Springs in the Vegas Invitational at Mountain View.

Ellie Markwardt added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Saints, who play Jalisco State (Mexico) for the championship at 6 p.m. today.

Jalisco State (Mexico) 61, Agassi Prep 25 -- Andrea Tostado scored 13 points to lead Jalisco State into today's championship game.

Larissa Burrell led the Stars with 12 points.

Fairmont Prep (Calif.) 54, Lake Mead 46 -- At Lake Mead, Jordan Esparza scored 20 points to lead the Huskies.

The Eagles' Jenna Willis led all scorers with 25 points.

BOYS

Foothill 67, Canyon Springs (Calif.) 65 -- At Palm Springs, Calif., Earl Jones scored 22 points to lead the Falcons, who held on in the closing seconds at the Desert Heat Classic.

Foothill trailed 23-12 after one quarter but rallied to take the lead in the fourth quarter and survived a tip-in attempt with 1.5 seconds remaining.

Martin Earnest added 11 points for the Falcons.

Punahou (Hawaii) 60, Bishop Gorman 53 -- At Honolulu, the Gaels fell to Punahou in the Merv Lopes Holiday Classic.

Blake Moore had 19 points to lead the Gaels, and Quintin Dailey scored 13.

Punahou used a 14-3 second-quarter run to open a 33-18 halftime advantage.

King (Calif.) 76, Cimarron-Memorial 66 -- At Honolulu, J.J. Campbell scored 26 points to lead the Wolves over the Spartans in the semifinals of the Walter Wong Holiday Invitational.

Cimarron's Mike Cutright led all scorers with 38 points. Cutright also had 13 rebounds and five steals.

Mountain View 69, Spring Mountain 60 -- At Mountain View, Cortland LeBoeuff had 20 points and six steals as the Saints beat the Golden Eagles.

Brandon Carr added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Mountain View, and Justyn Anderson scored 11.

Joe Williams led Spring Mountain with 18 points.

Agassi Prep 57, Mount Vernon (Utah) 45 -- At Mountain View, Chris Mitchell and Quincy Brown each scored 12 points to lead the Stars.

Fairmont Prep (Calif.) 57, Tech 52 -- At Mountain View, Brandon Tiffany scored 29 points in a losing effort for Tech at the Vegas Invitational.
