Salt Lake rallies, splits doubleheader with 51s

Adam Pavkovich's two-run homer capped Salt Lake's three-run sixth inning Saturday and earned the Bees a 6-4 win over the 51s in the second game of a Pacific Coast League doubleheader in Salt Lake City.
Eric Stults pitched Las Vegas to a 3-0 win in the opener.
The 51s (38-32), who have won 10 of their last 13 games, scored all of their runs in the second game in the third inning. Terry Tiffee hit a two-run double, and, one out later, John-Ford Griffin clubbed a two-run homer, his seventh of the year.
Dwayne Pollok (4-2) started and lost, giving up six runs on eight hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. Jeff Kennard (3-1) won with one inning of relief.
Freddy Sandoval's solo home run pulled the Bees (44-24) within 4-3 in the fifth.
In the opener, Stults (5-6) worked the first six innings of the seven-inning game and blanked Salt Lake on eight hits and a walk. He struck out four.
Las Vegas scored all of its runs in the first game in the first inning. Jason Repko led off with his sixth homer. Then, after Tiffee doubled, John Lindsey belted his 13th homer.
Nick Green (4-3) took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out three.
Wilkin Ruan went 5-for-6 on the day for the 51s.
