San Diego State sneaks past Utah in overtime
SAN DIEGO -- Cheyenne High School product Lorrenzo Wade scored 20 points and Kyle Spain 19 to lead San Diego State to a 64-56 overtime victory over Utah on Wednesday night.
The Aztecs (13-4, 3-0 Mountain West Conference) made all eight free throws in the final 1:41 and held Utah to two baskets in overtime.
Spain had six points in overtime and former Green Valley High School star Billy White scored four for San Diego State, which blew a nine-point lead with six minutes left in regulation. The Utes' Shaun Green forced overtime on a layup with 40 seconds left that tied the game at 52.
The Aztecs stormed back from a 30-20 halftime deficit by scoring 14 consecutive points to start the second half.
Luke Nevill and Johnnie Bryant scored 12 points apiece for Utah (10-5, 1-1).
• Air Force 64, Wyoming 62 -- At Laramie, Wyo., Eric Kenzik's layup with 1.4 seconds remaining in overtime lifted the Falcons (10-6, 2-1 MWC) over the Cowboys (6-9, 0-3).
Wyoming's Joseph Taylor stole the ball and was fouled with 36 seconds left but missed both free throws, setting up Air Force's winning possession.
Taylor hit the first of two shots from the line with 36 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 56.
Tim Anderson led the Falcons with 19 points.
Brandon Ewing had a game-high 21 points for the Cowboys.
