Sierra Vista drops Reno with four-run seventh

Nick Capparelli singled home Andrew Garcia with two outs in the seventh inning to give Sierra Vista a 5-4 win over visiting Reno on Friday.

Capparelli's RBI single capped a four-run inning for the Lions.

With the bases loaded and one out, Garcia singled in Scotty Tomassetti. Brooks Klein and Jake Hager added bases-loaded walks to tie the game and set the stage for Capparelli.

Tomassetti, Garcia and Ryan Krasn each went 2-for-3 for the Lions.

Spring Valley 5, Palo Verde 3 -- At Palo Verde, Cameron Brooks was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI to lead the Grizzlies over the Panthers.

Garrett Blair added two hits and a run for Spring Valley, which scored five runs in the third.

Winning pitcher Tyler Anderson yielded three runs on four hits in the first but settled in and allowed just two more hits over the next five innings.

Jordan Pierce drove in two runs for Palo Verde.

Rancho 8, Foothill 4 -- At Foothill, Seth Turner was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three runs to lead the Rams past the Falcons.

Blake Pletsch added two hits, including a triple, and freshman Zack Qualls went the distance to get the win. Qualls struck out 14 and allowed three earned runs on six hits.

Foothill's Jake Ferdinand had a double and a solo homer, and Jordan Mathis hit a three-run homer for the Falcons.

Green Valley 4, Durango 1 -- At Green Valley, four pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Gators topped the Trailblazers.

Chad Whiteaker was 2-for-3 with a double, and Matt Harrison hit a solo home run for Green Valley.

Valley 8, Shadow Ridge 2 -- At Shadow Ridge, Larry Valdes went 2-for-3 with two triples to help lift the Vikings to a win over the Mustangs.

Valdes also went the distance on the mound, striking out 14 and holding Shadow Ridge to one earned run.

Dayan Oses and Miguel Michelangeli each went 2-for-4 to help Valley.

Western 18, Mojave 11 -- At Western, Aubrey Dezarn went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to help the Warriors rally past the Rattlers.

Keenen Shumpert went 3-for-4 with a double to help Western, which scored eight runs with two outs in the sixth inning to take control.

Cheyenne 19, Canyon Springs 10 -- At Canyon Springs, Marquise Hall was 5-for-6 with two triples, a double and five RBIs as the Desert Shields beat the Pioneers.

Cheyenne's Andrew Perez was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Canyon Springs' Brady Smith was 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

Centennial 6, Silverado 2 -- At Silverado, Troy Hunter pitched a five-hitter with no walks to lead the Bulldogs.

Trevor Goff went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Centennial, and Jimmy Nelson had a double and two RBIs

Silverado's Stefan Norman was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs.

Del Sol 5, Chaparral 4 -- At Del Sol, Matt Burge had a double, two RBIs, a steal and a run scored for the Dragons.

Del Sol's Tyler Giunta had six strikeouts in six innings before Burge came in for the save.

Cimarron-Memorial 10, Las Vegas 0 -- At Cimarron, Kody Gorden allowed two hits over five innings and had eight strikeouts to lead the Spartans.

Cimarron's Kris Kaplan went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Dyllon Nuernberg as 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Spartans.

Clark 16, Tech 0 -- At Clark, Manny Estrada went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs scored to lead the Chargers past the Roadrunners in five innings.

James Breen went 3-for-4 to help Clark.

Tom Hoag tossed a one-hitter for the Chargers, who put the game away with 12 runs in the fourth inning.

Basic 13, Desert Pines 0 -- At Basic, John Anderson was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to help the Wolves to the five-inning win over the Jaguars.

Darren Parke added a home run, and Josh Ross and Mike Feher combined on a two-hitter.

Liberty 9, Legacy 7 -- At Liberty, Kyle Rynearson and Michael Reveles each had RBI singles in a seven-run, fifth-inning rally that helped the Patriots defeat the Longhorns.

Rynearson pitched a complete game to earn the victory and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Joey Lauria was 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Legacy.

Coronado 10, Douglas 1 -- At Coronado, Josh Bryan hit a grand slam and a triple, finishing with seven RBIs, as the Cougars rolled to victory.

Coronado's Andrew Gans was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and an RBI.

Cory Ginther and Brandon Evans combined on a two-hitter for the Cougars.

Arbor View 11, Bonanza 8 -- At Arbor View, Chad Cole was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Aggies beat the Bengals.

Arbor View's David McClure was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Chasen Shreve was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs for Bonanza.

Bishop Gorman 14, Faith Lutheran 6 -- At St. George, Utah, Johnny Field went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, three runs scored and an RBI to lead the Gaels past the Crusaders in the Dixie Tournament.

Brothers Joey and John Rickard each hit home runs for Gorman.

Bishop Gorman 13, Pleasant Grove (Utah) 6 -- At St. George, Utah, Joey Rickard and Jeff Malm each went 4-for-4 to lead the Gaels in the Dixie tourney.

Joey Rickard added a home run. John Rickard, Brandon Garcia, Paul Sewald and Erik Van Meetren each had two hits for Gorman.

Mountain Crest (Utah) 3, Faith Lutheran 2 -- At St. George, Utah, Mountain Crest scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to edge the Crusaders at the Dixie Tournament.

Boulder City 10, Parowan (Utah) 3 -- At Boulder City, Adam Eudy doubled twice and drove in two runs to lead the Eagles to victory.

John Boyle added two hits and two RBIs.

Pahrump Valley 15, Lake Mead 9 -- At Mountain View, Garrett Darr was 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Trojans over the Eagles.

Mountain View 15, Pahrump Valley 1 -- At Mountain View, Brandon Carr threw five innings of one-hit ball and was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs to lead the Saints.

Carlin 11, Lake Mead 1 -- At Mountain View, Chris Hyatt pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the Railroaders' rout.

Mountain View 22, Carlin 16 -- At Mountain View, Carr was 4-for-5 with five RBIs and hit two doubles in the Saints' nine-run second inning.
