Snell’s 3-pointer lifts Lobos over George Mason
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands - Tony Snell made a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds remaining, giving New Mexico a come-from-behind 70-69 victory over George Mason in the Paradise Jam on Sunday.
George Mason went ahead 69-64 on two free throws with 17.7 seconds to play. But New Mexico's Kendall Williams made a 3-pointer with 11.9 seconds left, then stole the inbounds pass.
The ball wound up in the hands of Snell, who made the winning basket from the left wing. It marked the Lobos' only lead of the second half.
George Mason's desperation heave at the buzzer was far off the mark.
