Sonics owner won’t talk about Las Vegas move

Clay Bennett is laying low for now when it comes to talking about the possibility of moving his Seattle SuperSonics to Las Vegas.
The Sonics owner from Oklahoma City was at the Thomas & Mack Center on Friday to watch Seattle rookie Kevin Durant have his best outing as a professional, scoring 32 points against Golden State in the NBA Summer League.
But Bennett said he didn't want to discuss any Sonics-to-Las Vegas move.
"It would be better if I didn't say anything right now," Bennett said after the Sonics lost to the Warriors 85-74 to drop to 0-4 in summer league play. "Maybe at some point down the road."
In late April, Bennett told the Seattle Chamber of Commerce that Las Vegas was an option for him if he didn't get a new arena in Seattle.
Those comments didn't sit well with NBA commissioner David Stern, and Bennett quickly backtracked on them. Stern has publicly said the Sonics are not moving to Las Vegas.
Bennett did acknowledge that he is following closely Las Vegas' attempts to secure an arena, possibly downtown.
Four developers who had submitted proposals for an arena met with city officials Thursday and Friday. The city is expected to announce which bid it prefers within the next week.
• STARS COME OUT -- Basketball celebrities, current and former, were on hand Friday to watch Durant.
Hall of Famer Bill Russell sat with Bennett in the lower bowl of the Thomas & Mack, and Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James sat courtside.
James will be at USA Basketball's three-day mini-camp beginning Friday at Cox Pavilion. He spent Saturday watching the Cavaliers lose to Washington at Cox Pavilion 76-71 in Cleveland's final summer league game.
Joining James at the Cavaliers-Wizards game was Durant.
• MAVERICKS RUN TABLE -- With their 90-71 victory over the Boston Celtics on Saturday, the Dallas Mavericks finished 5-0 to grab at least a share of first place in the 22-team, 10-day event.
The New York Knicks defeated Golden State 91-87 to improve to 4-0. New York will play the Denver Nuggets at 3 p.m. today at Cox.
Dallas became the fifth team in the four-year history of the league to finish undefeated.
Former UNR star Nick Fazekas got his first start in summer league play Saturday for Dallas and finished with eight points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes against the Celtics, who finished 3-2.
• BELINELLI LEAVES -- Golden State rookie guard Marco Bellinelli left Las Vegas on Saturday to return to Italy, where he had a commitment to his country's national team.
Warriors management knew ahead of time of Belinelli's obligations.
In four games, Belinelli averaged a team-high 22.8 points a game. He scored 37 points in his first game, July 7 against New Orleans.
