Stauffer sharp as Beavers top visiting 51s
Tim Stauffer allowed just one unearned run in 7 2/3 innings Tuesday night to lead the Portland Beavers to a 4-1 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game in Portland, Ore.
Stauffer (8-4) gave up three hits and two walks and struck out four to win his fifth straight decision.
Scott Cassidy got the final out of the eighth inning, and Jared Wells pitched the ninth to earn his sixth save.
