Thames, Mills spark 51s’ win

Eric Thames hit his third home run in two days, and Brad Mills pitched six shutout innings Monday to lead the 51s to a 6-4 Pacific Coast League victory over the Tacoma Rainiers in Tacoma, Wash.

Thames also had two doubles as Las Vegas (16-16) held a 16-8 edge in hits in winning for the sixth time in seven games.

Mills (3-2) took a three-hit shutout into the seventh before giving up four runs on five hits in the inning. Shortstop Sean Kazmar, a Las Vegas High School product, had an RBI double in the seventh and finished 2-for-4 for the Rainiers (12-20).

Scott Podsednik had a two-run single to highlight the 51s' three-run fourth inning.

Danny Farquhar pitched a hitless ninth for his fourth save.
