Two-run ninth, solid relief effort lift 51s over River Cats

The 51s scored two runs in the ninth inning, snapping a 3-3 tie to beat the host Sacramento River Cats 5-3 on Tuesday in a Pacific Coast League game.

Las Vegas (4-3) scored three runs in the first inning, Sacramento countered with three in the second, but neither team scored again until the ninth. Manny Mayorson scored on a wild pitch for the 51s, and Brett Lawrie delivered an RBI single.

Wil Ledezma and Josh Roenicke combined for five scoreless innings of relief for the 51s. Roenicke walked Adam Heether to open the bottom of the ninth, then struck out the next three batters.

Las Vegas' David Cooper had a two-run single in the first inning, and Chris Woodward followed with an RBI single.
