A New England Patriots fan from Spokane, Wash., has set up a GoFundMe page in hopes to raise enough money to help the team after being fined $1 million by the NFL on Monday for its role in ‘Deflategate’.
The page, which was created Monday, is named “Paying the bill of the PATRIOTS.”
“We obviously know we won’t reach One Million Dollars, however we do believe the fine is bulls*** and want to help anyway we can,” the page’s description reads. “So whatever is donated will be donated to the New England Patriots in help with the fine!”
The hefty fine from the NFL wasn’t the only punishment the Patriots endured on Monday after an investigation into the team using under-inflated footballs in last season’s AFC Championship game.
Quarterback Tom Brady recieived a four-game suspension for the first four games of the 2015 regular-season. The Patriots were also stripped of two future draft picks — a first-round pick in 2016 and a fouth-round pick in 2017.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the page had surpassed $7,000.
