REBELS GET ANOTHER COMMITMENT FROM DUNBAR
Dunbar High School in Baltimore is known mostly for basketball, but UNLV picked up its second football recruit from there in a week.
Defensive back Courtney Bridget (6 feet 3 inches, 182 pounds) committed to the Rebels on Sunday morning. His Dunbar teammate, defensive end Horace Miller (6-1, 210), committed a week ago.
Bridget is listed by Scout.com as a two-star prosect and the nation's No. 93 cornerback. He and Miller visited UNLV this weekend. Bridget said he was won over by seeing the Rebels in person, that Miller's commitment had little bearing. Linebackers Jason Beauchamp and Ronnie Paulo were Bridget's hosts.
"It exceeded expectations," Bridget said of the visit. "I can't even put it into words. I didn't want to leave."
He said he had received some recruiting attention from Temple, Maryland, Kentucky, Buffalo, Central Michigan and Western Kentucky, but was disappointed the interest wasn't higher. That wasn't the case with UNLV. Defensive line coach Andre Patterson already visited, and plans to go back Jan. 5 with coach Mike Sanford and defensive coordinator Dennis Therrell.
"I liked being around the coaching staff," Bridget said. "They know what they're talking about. If I was wanted that bad, it says something about my skills. This is the place to be."
