SANFORD HAS ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY ON KNEES
UNLV football coach Mike Sanford is resting after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on both knees Friday.
He said it was to repair torn meniscus that developed "over a period of time."
"I put it off," Sanford said. "There are only certain times of the year I could do it. I wanted to get it fixed. Recruiting is over and I had a three-day weekend.
"I'm doing better today. I had a bad day Friday. I had a bad day Saturday. I was a little better Sunday."
Sanford said he should be fine by the time spring practices begin March 9.
Defensive line coach Andre Patterson will undergo a replacement of his right knee after spring drills end April 17. Sanford said another assistant would pick up Patterson's recruiting travel while he recuperates.
