UNR AD Groth retiring in spring 2013
RENO - UNR Athletic Director Cary Groth has announced her plans to retire in the spring.
Groth said in a statement Wednesday she'll remain on the job through the coming academic year while school officials initiate a national search for her replacement.
Groth was the athletic director at Northern Illinois before taking over at UNR in 2004. She says she's proud of gains made in recent years and thinks the timing is right for her to step down.
UNR President Marc Johnson credited Groth with positioning the Wolf Pack to make the jump this year from the Western Athletic Conference to the Mountain West.
He says that during her tenure UNR has enjoyed progress in both the competitive success of the athletic teams and the academic success of the student-athletes.
