Utes can’t hang with Wolverines

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Darius Morris had 19 points, 10 assists and only one turnover, guiding Michigan to a 75-64 nonconference victory over Utah on Friday.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points for the Wolverines (7-2), and Zack Novak and Jordan Morgan added 11 each.
Jay Watkins had 17 points and Will Clyburn and Chris Hines 11 apiece for Utah (6-3). The Utes didn't have a double-digit scorer until the final minutes, much too late to make a comeback.
Michigan took control with a 7-0 run midway through the first half, building a 13-point lead, and had little trouble maintaining a comfortable margin.
The Wolverines led 39-22 at halftime, and Hardaway scored eight straight points on a dunk and two 3-pointers to help keep the lead at 17.
■ UC Irvine 83, Wyoming 68 -- At Irvine, Calif., Darren Moore had 15 points to lead five scorers in double figures as the Anteaters (5-4) beat the Cowboys (3-6).
Irvine made 10 of 18 3-point attempts, and Wyoming hit 5 of 22.
Djibril Thiam had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Cowboys, who trailed 43-28 at halftime. Francisco Cruz led Wyoming with 14 points.
