Western boys forfeit four Southwest wins
Western's boys basketball team forfeited four Southwest League games Friday after the school determined it used an ineligible player.
The Clark County School District's athletic office announced the Warriors officially forfeited their wins against Pahrump Valley on Jan. 8 and Feb. 2 and one win each against Bonanza (Jan. 30) and Durango (Jan. 9).
As a result, the Warriors, who appeared to have locked up a playoff spot with their win Thursday over Spring Valley, went from 11-2 in the Southwest to 7-6 and from second place to fifth.
Desert Oasis (10-3) has moved into second place in the league, followed by Durango (8-5), Spring Valley (7-5) and Western (7-6).
Bishop Gorman (14-0) has clinched the outright Southwest title.
