Wranglers rebound with win

For the second straight night, more than 6,000 fans showed up at the Orleans Arena for a hockey game. For the first time this weekend, the Wranglers decided to show up, too.

After mailing in a listless performance in Friday's 3-1 loss to Bakersfield, Las Vegas started strong and finished strong Saturday in a 5-1 victory over the Condors in front of a crowd of 6,902.

Glenn Fisher stopped 45 of 46 shots in his first start in net for the Wranglers, who scored three first-period goals to take a 3-0 lead and added two more in the third period en route to the victory.

Las Vegas netted three power-play goals and finished 3-for-9 to improve its ECHL-worst man advantage (28-for-230, 12 percent).

The Wranglers won despite getting outshot 35 to 13 in the last two periods and 46-23 overall.

Las Vegas (19-18-4) took a 1-0 lead 3:12 into the game on a power-play goal by Chris Ferraro, who gathered a pass in the slot from Shawn Limpright and punched the puck into the back of the net.

Adam Milller made the score 2-0 with 3:36 left in the first period when he took a centering pass from Dan Spang and streaked to the net, where he slid the puck between the legs of Bakersfield goalie Dave McKee.

Chris St. Croix gave the Wranglers a 3-0 lead with 47 seconds left in the period when he scored on a blast from just inside the blue line.

After a scoreless second period, Bakersfield's Dave Bonk scored on a two-man advantage to make it a 3-1 game with 8:03 remaining.

Less than three minutes later, Peter Ferraro took a pass from twin brother Chris and ripped the puck into the net to restore the Wranglers' three-goal advantage.

Miller, who finished with two goals and an assist, capped the scoring with a power-play goal with 3:30 left.

Bakersfield fell to 14-24-6.
