Former UNLV and NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham was named an assistant coach for the school’s track and field program. He played at UNLV in the 1980s.

Alex Wright joined the Review-Journal staff as a high school sports reporter on October 2022. He was previously a sports intern at the RJ. Alex was born and raised in Las Vegas and is in his fourth year at UNLV, majoring in journalism and media studies, with a concentration in sports media. Alex currently serves as the editor-in-chief for UNLV's student newspaper, the Scarlet & Gray Free Press. He previously was the sports editor for the paper last school year after being a sports staff writer for a year and a half.
