Wine Walk to raise funds
for New Vista Community

A Wine Walk to benefit New Vista Community is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

New Vista Community is a nonprofit group that provides equal opportunities and support for intellectually challenged people of all ages.

dining specials in May

The Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway, is serving dining specials in May, including $1 margarita on the rocks, $2 tequila shots and $3 Mint Juleps at all casino bars.

Snaps will offer a $9.99 surf and turf special and breakfast (two eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns and toast) for $3.11 with the purchase of a beverage.

The buffet will be $7 all day on Thursdays and Sundays and on Memorial Day, May 30.

Carve is offering a three-course combination with choice of soup or salad and choice of entree (beef medalliions au poivre, lamb chop or two jumbo shrimp) with choice of dessert for $19.99.

Raising Cane's locations to collect cell Phones for soldiers

Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers locations in the Las Vegas Valley will be collecting gently used mobile phones and donations for Cell Phones for Soldiers and local military members during May.

On Memorial Day, May 30, all of the profits and collected phones will be donated to Cell Phones for Soldiers, a nonprofit group dedicated to providing free calls home to U.S. armed forces. The USO, a nonprofit organization that works to life the spirits of America's troops and their families, plans to distribute calling cards through its Las Vegas center.

Las Vegas Epicurean Affair set
for May 26 at the Palazzo

The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair is scheduled for May 26 at The Pools at the Palazzo, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The annual event is sponsored by the Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA) and will feature samplings of cuisine and cocktails from restaurants and beverage purveyors. Wine blending seminar set
at Morton's The Steakhouse

Morton's The Steakhouse, 400 E. Flamingo Road, plans to host a Meritage wine blending seminar from 6 to
7:30 p.m. Thursday presented by Napa Valley's Franciscan Oakville Estate vineyards.

Before the seminar, guests can enjoy Franciscan Oakville Estate Magnificat and Morton's signature petite filet mignon sandwiches, miniature crab cakes, blue cheese tenderloin crostini and an assortment of fruit and cheese.

A Franciscan Oakville Estate expert will then lead guests through a step-by-step, hands-on demonstration of the art of blending wine. Participants will be provided with blending essentials to create their own Meritage. At the conclusion, the winery's representative will sample each blend and declare one the evening's champion blend.

The event also will include a silent auction with all of the proceeds benefiting Birdies for the Brave.

The Jewish Family Service Agency plans to host its fourth annual Tzedakah Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 5 at the Four Seasons Hotel, 3960 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Tzedakah means charity, and the JFSA invites the entire community to attend and honor those who will be recognized as "everyday heroes," people who dedicate their lives to healing the world here in Las Vegas.

Social House inside Crystals at CityCenter, 3720 Las Vegas Blvd. South, recently launched Kudasai, a weekly dinner party dedicated to Las Vegas locals and those who work in the restaurant and nightlife industry.

In honor of National Hamburger Month and Get Caught Reading Month, I Love Burgers at the Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to give guests who donate a new or used book a free slider during May.

Up to 12 books per person per day will be accepted. Guests who donate 12 books at one time will receive a "booker's" dozen of sliders in exchange.

At the end of the month, the books will be donated to the Shade Tree shelter, a safe place for homeless and abused women and children to stay.

Tommy Bahama's to host Thursday patio parties

Tommy Bahama's Restaurant & Bar at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host Patio Thursdays on its outdoor patio from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

The weekly events will feature Island Time small plates and cocktails, specialty rum drinks from the restaurant's collection of more than 175 rums and live music.

Small plates will include tuna poke, fish tacos, prime burger sliders, pork lumpia, candied beet salad, calamari noodles, jerk chicken lollipops and steak sliders, all priced from $5 to $10.

Rum flights are being designed especially for the patio parties, with themes such as spiced rum, muddled drink and flavor-infused rum. Each flight will feature three signature cocktails for $10.

The Island Time menu is available from 4 to 7 p.m. daily in addition to Patio Thursdays.

King's Fish House plans Lobster Festival

King's Fish House at The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2255 Village Walk Drive, No. 139, plans to present Lobster Festival through July 5.

During Lobster Festival, patrons can enjoy lobster bisque, lobster deviled eggs, New England lobster roll, steak and lobster Oscar and whole live lobsters in eight to 10 sizes and two preparation styles (steamed or clam baked). A 1.25-pound lobster meal with side dishes will start at $25.85.

Quinn's Irish Pub debuts pub fare menu

Quinn's Irish Pub inside Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, recently launched its first pub menu, serving lunch and dinner daily.

The menu includes twists on hearty, traditional Irish and English pub dishes. All items are $8 or less. Traditional dishes include bangers and mash and shepherd's pie. Unique items include Irish egg rolls, corned beef, sautéed cabbage and spicy brown mustard dipping sauce; and Irish pizza skins, homemade pizza dough filled with a traditional Irish potato preparation called colcannon, consisting of mashed potatoes, leeks and cabbage, topped with corned beef.

Beer pairings are available for each dish and are priced $3 or $4 per pint. Nine different whiskeys also are available.

Carl's Jr. partners with March of Dimes, Las Vegas 51s for fundraisers

Carl's Jr. locations across the Las Vegas Valley are collecting donations for the March of Dimes through Monday.

Any customer who donates $1 will receive a special cutout to sign and display, along with food coupons. Last year Carl's Jr. raised $40,000 for the organization, which supports research, awareness programs, local hospitals and families affected by the outcomes of premature births.

Carl's Jr. also is partnering with the Las Vegas 51s baseball team. While supplies last, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson locations are giving one ticket to a 51s game to customers for free, upon request, with the purchase of any large combo.
