Airman lands in Geyser Peak

Airman 1st Class Brent Whipple said he was tired of renting. So he bought a home at Woodside Homes’ Geyser Peak.

“I did not want to live in an apartment any longer,” he said. “I had no privacy, nothing to show for it except rent receipts and no tax benefit. I decided that right now, with interest rates so low, it truly is a good time to buy.”

Whipple said he went online and discovered Geyser Peak.

“The home I found had everything I wanted,” he said. “They hadn’t even finished building models, but I knew it was everything I was looking for. It was a single-story floor plan with four bedrooms, and it was located in the right part of town.”

Whipple was able to take advantage of a Veterans Affairs loan, and Woodside Homes offered an additional 2 percent toward closing costs.

He said he was looking forward to moving into his new Geyser Peak home in September, when he will have a 15-minute commute to Nellis Air Force Base. He eventually plans to add a swimming pool, but first, in his words, “I’m just going to enjoy a new home that is all my own.”

The gated community offers homeowners homesites with room for recreational vehicle parking.

Now selling in North Las Vegas, the one- and two-story homes with as many as six bedrooms and as many as four baths can be personalized with flexible floor plans and designer choices. Prices start at $189,990.

Homeowners have the option to add rooms based on their family’s needs and multigenerational living requirements, such as a separate living suite above the garage on the two-story homes.

There is an optional third bay in the garage . Additional options and design alternatives are available. Among them are covered patios, lofts, studios, den or exercise room, home office, kids’ retreat, guest suite or game room. Spanish colonial, craftsman and prairie ranch architecturally inspired designs offer masonry-fenced yards, two-car attached garages with embossed steel roll-up doors and 8-foot entry doors.

Drought-tolerant front-yard landscaping and front porches are included as standard features.

Interiors include great rooms, island kitchens and master suites with walk-in closets and separate shower. Architectural details can include high-volume ceilings, window designs, rounded-corner drywall, decorator light switches, decorator flooring, designer casings and baseboard moldings and storage spaces.

Geyser Peak residents also have access to Interstate 15 and the Las Vegas Beltway. To visit from the beltway, exit North Fifth Street and head south on to Hammer Road. Traveling on the I-15, exit Craig Road and head west to North Fifth, turn north and proceed to Hammer. Geyser Peak is on the northwest corner of Hammer and North Fifth.
