Akenhead eliminated in ninth place

James Akenhead of England went out in ninth place of the World Series of Poker’s Main Event, winning $1.263 million.

Akenhead busted out after more than 3 ½ hours of play that saw little action and very few flops for more than half of the afternoon.

Akenhead started play in ninth place, but tripled up in a wild hand against Eric Buchman and moved into sixth. He took a tumble when he lost with pocket kings against Kevin Schaffel's pocket aces. Two hands later, Phil Ivey tried to put him all in, but he folded.

Schaffel eliminated Akenhead when his pocket nines held to Akenhead’s pocket threes.
