Aliante community hosts events
June 9, 2007 - 9:00 pm
Aliante will host a series of free outdoor community events that will be open to the public. The events will include concerts, movies, pet adoptions, kid's educational workshops, circus shows, holiday-themed celebrations and a variety of other family- oriented happenings.
Movie Madness 2007 kicks off June 23 with a screening of "Open Season," a 2006 computer-animated film produced by Sony Pictures Animation. The movie centers on a role reversal, where forest animals that are traditionally hunted, team up against hunters.
Preshow entertainment will be provided by Zaney Lainie the clown.
July 14, the big-screen, outdoor series will present "Over the Hedge," an animated movie produced by Dreamworks.
Originally released in 2006, the movie tells the tale of R.J., a scheming raccoon who fools a mismatched family of forest creatures into helping him pay back a debt of food by invading the suburban neighborhoods that arose while they were hibernating. R.J. soon learns his own lessons about family.
The movies begin at dusk and no earlier than 7:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available for sale and those who attend are welcome to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.
On July 28, from 8 to 10 p.m., Aliante will host a jazz concert featuring Mimi Fox, who has been named a "Rising Star" in four consecutive Down Beat International Critics Polls (2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006).
The concert will be part of the city of North Las Vegas Starlight Music Series, of which Aliante is a major sponsor.
Food and refreshments will be available for sale. Chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are welcome.
The events will be held in the community's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, which is located at 2627 Nature Park Drive, near the southeast corner of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Aliante Parkway.
Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises LLC. (Aliante's developer) said since opening in 2003, Aliante has sponsored and co-sponsored an ongoing series of events and activities designed to nurture its unique "sense of community."
"One of the most important components in designing and developing a master plan is what we call social infrastructure," Naef said.
"From a developer's standpoint, that means you provide the residents of your community with more than just quality homes and recreational amenities -- you also foster worthwhile events and activities that promote a pleasant lifestyle and good interaction among neighbors. We're especially proud of the fact that our community events in Aliante are free and open to all residents of Southern Nevada."
