Aliante ice cream event finds homes for dogs
Aliante's fifth annual Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption was held Sept. 8. According to Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises LLC, developer of the North Las Vegas master-planned community, the event was a tremendous success, drawing a huge crowd and resulting in the adoption of many abandoned dogs from Lied Animal Shelter,.
Naef said thousands of residents and visitors attended the free event, which was held in Aliante's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park. Free ice cream was provided by Meadow Gold and there was entertainment and music by D.J. Tony, face painting, bounce houses, games and information booths. A highlight of the event was the children's Ice Cream Sunday Olympics, which featured a Hula-Hoop Scoop, Pool Duel and Frozen T-Shirt Contest.
"Our fifth annual Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption was a very successful event, in terms of both the number of people who came out for a day of fun and the number of homes that were found for dogs of all breeds and ages," Naef said. "It was very gratifying to see so many people enjoying themselves and becoming familiarized with the important work Lied Animal Shelter does in Southern Nevada."
Throughout the day, families enjoyed the amenities of Nature Discovery Park.
The Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption event was co-sponsored by North Valley Enterprises, which is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb; Lied Animal Shelter; and KSNE, 106.5-FM.
