Aliante sponsors free events in park

Outdoor events continue at Aliante, a master-planned community in North Las Vegas. They are all free and open to the public. The family oriented events include movies, pet adoptions, kid's educational workshops, circus shows and holiday celebrations.

Events are held in Aliante's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, located at 2627 Nature Park Drive, near the southeast corner of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Aliante Parkway.

On July 28 from 8 to 10 p.m., Aliante will host a jazz concert as part of the city of North Las Vegas' Starlight Music Series. The event will feature jazz artist Mimi Fox, who has been described by music magazine Down Beat as "a rising star."

On Aug. 11, Aliante's Movie Madness series continues with a big-screen presentation of "Akeelah & the Bee." The movie will begin at dusk and no earlier than 7:30 p.m. Preshow entertainment will be provided by "Zaney Lainie" the clown.

Food and refreshments will be available for sale at the jazz concert and Movie Madness events. Those who attend are invited to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.

On Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aliante and Nickelodeon will present "Nick Live!," an interactive stage show featuring a variety of high-energy games and physical challenges. The event will give kids and adults a chance to get on stage and get into the action.

Two 45-minute "Nick Live!" shows will be held, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. A variety of other Day of Discovery activities will also be featured, including live entertainment by D.J. Tony, mad science, arts and crafts, games and dinosaur digs. Food and refreshments will be available for sale and there will be several booths representing community-based businesses.

Community events are a team effort that include Aliante's master developer North Valley Enterprises LLC and city of North Las Vegas' Special Events and Parks & Recreation Departments.

Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises LLC, an affiliate of American Nevada Co., and Pulte Homes. Encompassing more than 1,900 acres, the community will ultimately have as many as 7,500 homes.
