Aliante to host free Las Vegas Gladiators event

Aliante will host two free Las Vegas Gladiators youth camps May 5 in the community's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park.

Children, ages 4 to 17, are welcome to participate in events which will include a Las Vegas Gladiators Football Camp led by head coach Danton Barto and his staff; and a Las Vegas Gladiators Dance Camp led by The Gladiator Goddesses and Goddess choreographer Naomi Montoya. Children will be placed into different age groups.

Registration takes place 8 to 9 a.m., while the camps take place 9 to 11 a.m. Autographs and photo opportunities will be held from 11 a.m. to noon.

Admission to the camps will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"These camps will be both educational and enjoyable for young people and we are happy to bring them -- free-of-charge -- to the Southern Nevada community," said Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises LLC, the developer of Aliante. "They are two of the many exciting outdoor, family oriented events we have scheduled at Aliante during 2007."

North Valley Enterprises, LLC, is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Pulte Homes. Encompassing more than 1,900 acres, Aliante includes as many as 7,500 homes, with an anticipated population of about 20,000.

Home builders in the master-planned community, located in the northwestern valley, are Astoria Homes, Del Webb, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes.

Home prices range from the upper $100,000s to the upper $600,000s. In addition, Del Webb is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante community.

Bordered roughly by Grand Teton Drive, Centennial Parkway, Decatur Boulevard and Clayton Street, as many as 428 acres in Aliante are designated for recreational and public purposes including the Aliante Golf Club, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, Deer Springs Park, Aviary Park, more than 24 miles of lighted concrete trails and linear parks and an arroyo.

Proposed plans include two elementary schools and a middle school, to be built by the Clark County School District. The community's first school, the Theron H. and Naomi D. Goynes Elementary School, opened in August 2005. A new fire station was opened in April 2004, and the Aliante Library, located adjacent to the Nature Discovery Park, opened in May 2006.

As many as 100 acres in Aliante are allocated for commercial development.

Residents have access to shopping, dining and professional services, including proximity to retail centers and the Aliante Corporate Center office park.

Ground was broken during the first quarter of 2007 for the Aliante Station hotel and casino. The resort will be located on a 40-acre parcel at the northeast corner of I-215 and Aliante Parkway.

Pre-registration information for the Gladiator's event can be obtained by visiting the Aliante Information Gallery at 2600 Nature Park Drive, located near the southeast corner of Interstate 215 and Aliante Parkway or by calling 866-787-2951.

To visit the gallery, take U.S. Highway 95 north to the I-215 Exit East. Head east on I-215, exit at Aliante Parkway and proceed south.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
