Aliante to host Winter Holiday Festival
December 1, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Tonight, the Aliante master-planned community will hold a Winter Holiday Festival to herald the holiday season and kick off a toy drive to benefit The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation.
The Winter Holiday Festival will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Aliante Information Gallery and in the adjacent Nature Discovery Park, featuring holiday-themed activities.
This is the Burn Foundations sixth annual Fill the Fire Truck Holiday Toy Drive and this evening, firefighters will be on hand with a fire truck to accept new, unwrapped toys for families in need. This year, the firefighters have set the goal of giving assistance to 10,000 Las Vegas children. The toy drive will continue through Dec. 21.
Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises LLC, said Aliante is pleased to host the toy drive.
"Our Winter Holiday Festival is free and open to the public, but we're asking those who have the means to bring along a new unwrapped toy to help make the holidays a little brighter for families in need," Naef said. "This event will give people an opportunity to get into the holiday spirit, while lending their support to very worthwhile cause."
In conjunction with the toy drive, North Valley Enterprises, the developer of Aliante, has donated $500 to assist with expenses.
Visitors to the Winter Holiday Festival can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides from the Aliante Information Gallery to a decorated event tent in Nature Discovery Park. Along the way, carriage riders can view the light displays, including life-sized elves with presents in front of the Aliante Information Gallery and a 40-foot-long sea serpent with a waggly tail, next to the lake in the Nature Discovery Park.
Upon arriving at the tent, guests will be serenaded by strolling carolers and welcome to partake in a variety of holiday sweets including hot chocolate, hot apple cider, a chocolate fountain with a variety of dipping treats and more. The decorative tent will also offer a variety of holiday photo opportunities.
