Angle at DC fundraiser tonight
A group of Republican Senate candidates including Sharron Angle of Nevada are gathering in Washington tonight for a $5,000 per person fundraiser, party officials confirmed.
Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, John Boozman of Arkansas, Dan Coats of Indiana and Marco Rubio of Florida are set to benefit along with Angle. The proceeds will go into a joint fundraising account and then will be divided among the candidates.
Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and Scott Brown of Massachusetts are the hosts for the event that will take place at a home that GOP sources would not identify.
Might be an interesting conversation between Angle and Rubio if they cross paths, since Rubio came up in a exchange between Angle and Nevada candidate Scott Ashjian last week.
Not aware that Ashjian was tape-recording their meeting, Angle offered an assessment of some Republicans from other states. On Delaware candidate Christine O'Donnell, Angle said, "I think she's real." On Rubio, she said, "I think that possibly Marco Rubio is real. That's a stretch for me."
Angle will raise more money at a luncheon tomorrow at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, where aides said she also will meet with party strategists before heading back to the state.
