Angle launches Tea Party PAC
Defeated U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle is forming a national Tea Party group that aims to help conservatives win public office in 2012.
In an announcement on Facebook, the group said the goal is to help organize ground game campaigns, something Angle didn't do well herself when the Republican lost to Democratic incumbent Sen. Harry Reid in November.
Angle said she was working with Tea Party groups in 15 states so far to form "The Patriot Caucus."
The Political Action Committe will include an online "action hub" that will be going up throughout January and February, Angle said.
The PAC also will open offices early next year in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada -- three of four early presidential caucus and primary states -- as well as the prime battleground of Florida, she said.
"Upcoming announcements will outline the PAC's intentions to organize a ground game across most battleground states for the 2012 election cycle," the group said on Facebook.
Although Angle lost a major race, she raised a record of more than $27 million during her Senate run, building a nationwide donor base that could help the PAC.
Angle has been coy about her own future plans, including whether she'll run for the Senate again, the House or another office in 2012.
"The tea party movement stood with me through a hard fought race against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid," Angle said in a statement. "It's time for me to give back and help our movement take the fight against big government to a new level."
