Angle’s view of the debte that didn’t happen

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s campaign has made much of an on-again, off-again debate against challenger Sharron Angle on Jon Ralston’s “Face to Face” television program, accusing the Republican’s staff of everything from incompetence to insincerity. The minor controversy generated major buzz on national political websites.

Angle previously declared to Ralston her willingness to debate Reid on a future program. But it appears that’s not going to happen. In an email, Jerry Stacy, spokesman for Angle campaign, told his side.

“I have never agreed to any late debate that was scheduled after the polls open, and the press has been well aware of my position on this,” Stacy said. “I worked for several weeks trying to get the Reid campaign to agree to an early debate, and the Reid camp finally surrendered and an Angle-Reid debate was scheduled for October 14th. Last week the Angle campaign also accepted an offer to participate in an Angle-Reid forum that is being hosted on September 23rd. A lot of effort and planning has been involved in securing these dates, and I have consistently maintained that any debate between Angle and Reid will be held BEFORE early voting begins because the voters deserve to know where both candidates stand on the issues before the polls open in Nevada.

“All is well in the Angle campaign. Thank you for asking!”
