Another Enger on the shelves
It looks like another Enger has joined the fray.
Lin Enger’s new release, “Undiscovered Country,” will join his brother’s novels on store and library bookshelves.
Enger’s brother, Leif, has written two very good books: “So Brave, Young and Handsome” and “Peace Like a River,” both of which have been reviewed in The Book Nook, here www.lvrj.com/blogs/booknook/Leif_Engers_latest_a_journey_of_hope.html
and here www.lvrj.com/blogs/booknook/Love_for_Leif_Enger.html.
I haven’t read Lin Enger’s book, but according to the publishing information, it is a reinvention of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.”
On a November afternoon, Jesse Matson, 17, and his father go off on a hunt in the woods of Minnesota. A shot sounds, and Jesse feels something is dreadfully wrong. He runs for his father, only to find him dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. As Jesse struggles with questions about his father’s death, he uncovers family secrets and wonders about his own culpability.
If anyone reads this book, please let me know how it is. I’m sure I’ll get around to picking it up myself. If Lin is even half the writer his brother is “Undiscovered Country” will be a great read.
