Are we at war, or not?
That's the title of an excellent piece by Pat Buchanan, which The Complete Las Vegan recommends to readers this morning.
It continues the theme this week of how the left purrs to itself about how they are oh-so-smart in dealing with terrorism in their "enlightened" and politically correct way.
Nothing says that better than the Obama decision to try Gitmo terrorists in federal court in New York City. What I especially like about this Buchanan piece is his reference to historical precedence and how out-of-step the Obama Administration is in the wisdom of the ages. Forget the lessons of history, Obama's PC gang say. We know best. See how we bow to the Japanese emperor. See how we can dress in traditional Chinese garb.
Buchanan, however, points out that enemy soldiers who commit atrocities under the Geneva Conventions are shot when caught.
"When and where did Khalid Sheikh Mohammed acquire his right to a trial by a jury of his peers in a U.S. court," Buchanan correctly asks.
The harsh reality is, of course, that President Barrack Obama and the American PC crowd endanger us all by miscalculating mightily on how to effectively deal with the terrorism threat among us. For whatever you might say about President George Bush, he understood the dangers and protected us from domestic terrorism. Obama, meanwhile, invites evil to dinner as if it is something we can negotiate with over peas and carrots.
Read it. Weep. Hope for change in 2010 and 2012.

"Welcome to dinner. Can't we all just get along?"
