AROUND TOWN: Dine out at Vegas’ upscale restaurants to benefit Three Square

It’s not often that my husband and I get to dress up and go out to a fancy restaurant, but when we spot a good food deal, we usually jump at the chance.

Last night, we dined at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon at the MGM Grand as part of Restaurant Week, an annual fundraiser benefiting Three Square. We had a fixed-price four-course meal – gazpacho, a crispy langoustine fritter with salad, a rib-eye steak (my husband ordered salmon, the other choice) and a souffle with pistachio ice cream – for $50.09 per person. Normally, a meal like that would cost close to $200.

Not only that, but the restaurant offered cocktail specials and a wine pairing with the dinner.

The food was fantastic, and I only wish I had the time to enjoy one of the other restaurants before the end of the fundraiser.

Several other restaurants are offering specials to benefit the charity, which helps feed hungry families in the valley. Menus are offered at $20.09, $30.09 and $50.09 per person at the restaurants, and are often three- or four-course dinners or lunches. It’s a great way for those of us who can’t usually enjoy the restaurants to dine at a reasonable price.

There are still several days left, as the event ends Sept. 6. Reservations are recommended at many of the participating restaurants.

For a complete list of participating restaurants, visit Three Square’s Web site. To read more about the event, check out the article written by F. Andrew Taylor in the View.
