AROUND TOWN: Get a free cupcake in honor of Cupcake Week

To eat cake is human, to indulge in a cupcake, divine.

OK, I know that’s not what Alexander Pope was talking about when he uttered his famous line more than 300 years ago. But it’s the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the words FREE CUPCAKE.

That’s right, Sept. 14 is the kickoff to National Cupcake week at the Cupcakery. And, in honor of the day, Ms. Sweet Cakes herself, owner Pamela Jenkins, will offer visitors to both of her Las Vegas stores (9680 S. Eastern, Suite 100 and 7175 W. Lake Mead, Suite 118) a free Southern Belle cupcake, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

So, start your day with a luscious mound of red velvet cake, or make it a lunchtime outing with your co-workers. Whatever you do, be sue to stop by and say,” Thank you, Pamela, for making my day a little sweeter.”
