AROUND TOWN: Get tax help at different spots in the valley

Looking for some tax help? If you earned less than $42,000 or you are a senior, there are a few nonprofit organizations that can help you file your taxes.

For its second year, the Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program by United Way of Southern Nevada invites working taxpayers who earned less than $42,000 in 2008 to take advantage of free tax preparation at 17 different sites throughout Clark County. Some may be eligible for an Earned Income Tax Credit refund of up to $4,824. Make sure to bring valid identification, Social Security cards for you, your spouse and kids, all W-2 and 1099 forms received, daycare records and other tax documents. If filing jointly, you and your spouse must attend together.

A complete list of tax preparation sites can be found on the United Way of Southern Nevada's Web site.

If you are an adult older than 50, you can receive tax help at various locations across the valley thanks to the AARP. Don't forget to bring the necessary tax documents to your meeting. A list of tax preparation sites can be found on the AARP's Web site.
