AROUND TOWN: Henderson’s Third Thursday fun for the whole family

Looking for a fun, free event for the entire family? Then head to downtown Henderson for the monthly Third Thursday ARTsWALK from 5 to 9 p.m. June 19.

Fine art galleries throughout downtown will open their doors to display paintings, photography, jewelry, crafts and more by some of the best artists in the valley. Many businesses also offer free activities for kids, so it's a great way to get youngsters interested in art. Start your walk at the Gibson Library, 280 S. Water St., to pick up a guide to all the participating businesses and for information about discussing art with your children. After 5:30 p.m., you can pick up the guide at the Plaza Gallery, 223 S. Water St. For a kid-friendly walk-through, visit this View article.

If you don't have kids, you still can enjoy Third Thursday. Many of the galleries have wine receptions, and artists will be available to discuss their work. Instead of starting at the library, pick up your guide at the Plaza Gallery and start your walk at the last stop so that you can avoid the crowd.

After the walk, stop by the Henderson Events Plaza Amphitheater, 200 S. Water St., for Thursday Night Live!, a free weekly concert series. This week, guitarist Skip Eaton and rock band Soul'd Out will perform from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
