AROUND TOWN: Libraries to offer amnesty on fines
"Libraries don't like paying customers!" I've been told more than once.
If you're as bad about returning books, CDs and DVDs on time, as I am, no worries; your holiday from guilt is on the way.
In celebration of National Library Week, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will offer a library fine amnesty program the week of April 13 through 19. All you have to do is dig up your overdue items and return them.
The library will waive up to $25 in fines for any cardholder who returns the overdue materials and pays the remainder of the
outstanding balance in full. If you're as bad as I am, you may need to ask about the payment plan.
To participate, stop by any library branch April 13 through 19. The library district won't waive fines over the telephone or online. Lost library cards also will be replaced free of charge.
Having a hard time finding those elusive books, try a few of my most common hiding places for library items.
* Behind the fridge
* Under the couch
* In the car trunk
* Beneath the car passenger seat
* Between the mattresses
* In the bag you packed to read by the pool
* On a book shelf in obvious plain sight, grrr
* Packed during a move and lost in an unmarked box in the storage shed for a month, worst fine ever!
