AROUND TOWN: Teens, keep those minds working this summer for college credit

Want to keep those minds working this summer?

Seventh- and eighth-graders, and high school freshmen through seniors who are enrolled in honors and advanced placement courses or who have GPAs about 3.0 and who attend local public, private or home schools are invited to participate in the SAGE Academy, Summer Advanced Gifted Education. Classes will be held at the UNLV Honors College and will give students the opportunity to earn three fully transferable honors credits. UNLV professors will teach the courses.

The deadline to enroll in the program has been extended to 5 p.m. on July 10, and courses start July 13 and end July 31. Tuition is $875 and includes textbooks, daily lunch in the UNLV Dining Commons and a parking pass.

Courses with remaining spots include business entrepreneurship, crafting the actor, creative writing, English of the SATs, French, psychology, Spanish and summer robotics.
