Findlay sponsors shredding event

Findlay Toyota, located at 7733 Eastgate Road in the Valley Automall, is sponsoring a free shredding event Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. area residents are invited to bring documents to the dealership so they can be shredded.

According to dealership officials, 8.1 million Americans were victims of identity theft last year, costing an average of $631 and 59 hours to correct the problem. Shredding documents, such as old receipts, bank statements and credit card offers, can help prevent identity theft.

John Barr, general sales manager at Findlay Toyota, said, "This is a chance for everyone to protect their valued name from the identity theft that is going on in the valley. We are the luckiest people in the world and we should all work to protect our good name ."

There is a limit of four boxes per person. There is no cost for the service.

For more information, call the dealership at 566-2000.
