Bay Area family relocates to Aliante master-planned community

After visiting family in the area, former Northern California residents Carlos and Ivonne Cruz found a new home in Aliante, a master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

"We have been out here a few times visiting my brother-in-law and each time we loved it more and more," Ivonne Cruz said. "When we saw what Aliante had to offer, we knew our search was over. It had everything we were looking for."

Having purchased an Astoria Homes Residence 765 in The Fields neighborhood, Carlos Cruz is able to reflect on the time he lost with sons Michael, 10, and Alex, 3, in California where a long commute was a daily standard.

"The quality of life is a big advantage here at Aliante. We were always on the go in California," he said. "Now I get to see my kids all the time."

The Cruz family's 3,176-square-foot Astoria home includes five bedrooms, three baths and a three-car garage.

"One of the reasons why we liked this model the most was that it had a downstairs bedroom with a bath," Carlos Cruz said. "It gives our guests from California a sense of privacy when they come and stay with us."

Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises LLC, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Pulte Homes. Encompassing more than 1,900 acres it will be comprised of as many as 7,500 homes, with an anticipated population of about 20,000.

Home builders at Aliante include Astoria Homes, Del Webb, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Del Webb is also building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Prices range from the high $100,000s to the high $600,000s.

Bordered by Grand Teton Drive, Centennial Parkway, Decatur Boulevard and Clayton Street, the community includes the Aliante Golf Club, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, Deer Springs Park, Aviary Park, more than 24 miles of lighted concrete trails and linear parks and an arroyo.

Two additional elementary schools and a middle school are planned. Theron H. and Naomi D. Goynes Elementary School opened in August 2005.

A new fire station opened in April 2004 and the Aliante Library, located adjacent to the Nature Discovery Park, opened in May 2006.

Aliante Station Hotel & Casino is scheduled for construction.

The resort will be located on a 40-acre parcel at the northeast corner of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Aliante Parkway.

Visit the Aliante Information Gallery by taking U.S. Highway 95 north to Internet 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, exit. Head east on I-215, exit at Aliante Parkway and proceed south.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
