Begleiter out of WSOP in sixth place
Former Wall Street executive Steven Begleiter was eliminated in sixth place at the World Series of Poker’s main event, winning $1.587 million.
Begleiter, who entered the day in third place, held the chip lead for part of the day before he lost a 26 million pot to Antoine Saout.
“I completely misplayed that hand,” he said, after busting out before 1 a.m.
Begleiter went all in with pocket queens against Darvin Moon, who had an ace-queen. But the Maryland logger drew an ace on the river card and sent Begleiter home.
“What can you do? I played the hand correctly,” Begleiter said. “If I won, I had the chip lead.”
Begleiter was greeted in the lobby of the Penn & Teller Theater by more than 100 of his supporters.
“I had a great time,” he said.
The knock out left five players in contention. Moon regained the chip lead with 63.925 million. Eric Buchman is in second place with 53.25 million and Saout is in third with 51.725 million. Both Jeff Shulman and Joseph Cada are far behind the leaders.
