As many as 200 battery/electric vehicles will be among the 4,000-plus cars that partner BMW will provide for the 2012 Olympic Games next summer in London, England.

Its goal is to provide 160 ActiveE 1-series cars, and 40 Mini E two-seat hatchbacks, reports the environmental autos website www.GreenCarReports.com. The bulk of the Olympic fleet will consist of clean-diesel versions of its various models.

In the United States, meanwhile, the BMW ActiveE will be offered at $499 per month for a two-year lease after a $2,250 down payment.
