BROOKS, HASSELHOFF EXPECTED AT FINAL PERFORMANCE
February 9, 2008 - 12:04 pm
Broadway and film icon Mel Brooks and former cast member David Hasselhoff are expected for tonight's final performance of "The Producers" at Paris Las Vegas.
The closing comes on the one-year anniversary.
It's the latest in a recent run of Broadway hits to fail in Las Vegas. "Hairspray" (Luxor), and "Avenue Q" at the Wynn both lasted less than a year. "Mamma Mia!" was to close this year but has been extended until January, after a run of almost six years.
Hasselhoff was a member of the cast for the first three months as outrageously gay director Roger Debris. About three weeks before his stint ended he made headlines when a video surfaced showing an inebriated Hasselhoff eating a hamburger while lying on the floor.
