Builder introduces SheaXero: the no electric bill home

Shea Homes has announced its SheaXero -- the no electric bill home.

Rick Andreen, president of the company's Active Lifestyle Communities, said that through energy-efficient features and solar power, Shea Homes is the first national homebuilder to offer net zero electric homes as a standard feature.

He said SheaXero frees homeowners from the worry and unpredictability of escalating energy costs.

The new SheaXero standard will save owners in Shea Home Active Lifestyle Communities thousands of dollars every year, he added.

The builder offers SheaXero as a standard feature in all of its 10 Shea Homes and Trilogy Active Lifestyle Communities, including Shea Homes at Ardiente in North Las Vegas.

"We know how important it is for our customers to save money. But it's not just about the substantial savings, it's the peace of mind our customers enjoy by not worrying about escalating electricity costs while safeguarding the environment for the next generation," Andreen said.

High-powered solar power systems are at the heart of each SheaXero home, producing clean and renewable energy to save money and offset electricity consumption.

SheaXero homes also have energy-saving features such as Whirlpool Energy Star appliances, Trane energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, low-emissivity vinyl windows and blown-in insulation.

Coupled with the SheaXero features is the homebuilder's award-winning design, which includes abundant natural light, open floor plans, ergonomic vanity countertops and Five Sided Architecture.

SheaXero homes are also eco-friendly and well-equipped to reduce the burden on natural resources, Andreen said.

Since 2007, Shea Homes has built 3,000 green certified homes, surpassing the stringent industry benchmarks for green construction, resource conservation and energy efficiency.

To date, Shea green homes have saved homeowners a collective $7 million in energy costs, 65,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and abated 96 million pounds of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of taking 6,000 cars off the road, or restoring 350 acres of rainforest, according to Andreen.

Trilogy communities are high-end retirement resort communities offering a new choice in living to those looking for a lifestyle that revolves around wellness, exploration, continued learning and close personal connections.

Product design and amenities reflect the changing needs of the baby boom generation, including business services, world-class clubs, state-of-the-art fitness facilities and a diverse range of recreation and education opportunities, Andreen said.
