Centennial Hills is chock-full of Halloween and fall activities

Experience the abundance of harvest-time festivities or scare up new memories at Halloween fetes planned around Centennial Hills and Mount Charleston this weekend.
Halloween resort
Halloween is a weekend affair fit for the family at The Resort on Mount Charleston, 2 Kyle Canyon Road.
The resort plans to transform its Aspen Room into the Experiments Gone Wrong Laboratory from 3-6 p.m. Saturday . Halloween crafts, costume contests, witch's brew, other Halloween-themed refreshments, a movie screening and trick-or-treating through the hotel are planned.
The fee is $5 per child.
An outdoor fall festival is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the resort.
Hay rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment, a fresh produce sale, a pumpkin decorating contest for kids and foods of fall -- cider, doughnuts and caramel apples -- are to fill the docket.
"We're hoping this will be the first annual family Halloween party," said Michele Popejoy, marketing coordinator for The Siegel Group Nevada Inc. "People love coming up to the mountain, especially in the fall."
Admission is $10 for children and $15 for adults. Admission includes one ride and one entrance to the petting zoo. Each additional hay ride or petting zoo entry is $5.
Popejoy said those without children are welcome to the festival Sunday.
To stay and experience both events, The Resort on Mount Charleston has designed a special room package for the weekend. A hotel room and two child entries into the Halloween party and fall festival, along with two adult entries into the fall festival, are $144.90, plus tax and resort fee and based on availability.

Spooks and strikes to spare
Costumes are encouraged for a night of "booling" action from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Santa Fe Station's bowling center, 4949 N. Rancho Drive.
Adult bowlers are to hand out candy to children 12 or younger, and a costume contest is planned for 7 p.m.
Unlimited bowling is $8 per person. There is no charge to trick-or-treat and participate in the costume contest.
All masks and face paint that obstruct recognition are not permitted in the casino area.

Farm fun
Pick a pumpkin, get lost in a hay bale maze, experience farm life.
These are just a few of the new memories that Glenn and Sharon Linsenbardt, owners of The Farm, 7222 W. Grand Teton Drive, hope visitors will take away from the last weekend of their annual Fall Harvest Festival, set for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Monday .
The festival is to include carriage and pony rides, visits with farm animals, pumpkin and squash selection, a concession stand and The Farm's signature eggs, jams and honey. This year, story telling, face painting, a barrel train and an adult hay bale maze are planned.
The concession stand and rides are available Friday through Sunday only.

Pumpkin pastimes
If plucking a pumpkin straight from the vine is your fancy, Gilcrease Orchard, 7800 N. Tenaya Way, is to be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
The orchard plans to have its signature cider, with cinnamon doughnuts, and varied produce selection for sale , too. Scarecrows and a hay bale maze are available to extend the fun.
Pumpkins are 50 cents per pound.
The orchard accepts cash only.

Pizza and party
For a safe daytime destination for trick-or-treating, roll out to Montecito Marketplace, 7160 N. Durango Drive, from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday for the fifth annual Safe Halloween Hunt.
Businesses in the shopping center are to welcome youngsters and dole out treats.
Participants receive a Halloween Hunt Adventure Map to embark on a journey to gather treats.
Sammy's Woodfired Pizza is to offer a complimentary treat to families.
Safe Halloween Hunt is free and open to the public.

Harvest hoot
Truth Christian Ministries International plans to get in on the Halloween fun this weekend.
The nondenominational worship center invites the public to its free, annual Harvest Party but asks one thing of costume-clad visitors : Hold the spooky and scary, please.
"We want it to be safe for the kids," church event coordinator Jessica Kim said.
Live music, bounc e houses, prize giveaways, a raffle with an iPad at stake, games and food are planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Truth Christian Ministries International parking lot, 5101 N. Rainbow Blvd.
Last year's event drew about 2,000 visitors, Kim said, and it served as a neighborhood introduction for the church. Truth Christian Ministries International began hosting services last spring.
"We really want to create a light into the community," Kim said. "We want to harvest the people and let them know we're here now."

Trunk n Treat
For more safe trick-or-treating, the Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd., is scheduled to host its annual Halloween Trunk n Treat at 7 p.m. Saturday . The event is free and open to the public.
