BASKETBALL FUNDRAISER
FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER PLANNED

Hoops for Rachel, a three-on-three basketball tournament fundraiser presented by MOMS Club of Las
Vegas Northwest, is scheduled for
8:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Centennial Hills YMCA, 6601 N. Buffano Drive.

The event is free and open to the public. Teams pay $75 to participate. Funds will help fight childhood cancer.

SUNCOAST TO HOST FREE HEALTH FAIR
FOR FEDERAL EMPLOYEES

A free health fair for current and retired federal government employees and their spouses or survivors is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 in the second-floor ballroom at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.

Representatives from the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, including Blue Cross-Blue Shield, GEHA, Mail Handlers, United Healthcare and the Health Plan of Nevada are expected to attend and answer questions about 2013 health benefits.

FALL PLANT SALE SET FOR SATURDAY

The Nevada Division of Forestry State Tree Nursery plans to have a fall plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The nursery, at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9600 Tule Springs Drive, hosts plant sales twice a year.

More than 100 species of locally grown, native and desert-adapted trees, shrubs and perennials are scheduled to be on sale, including plants recently received from the Las Vegas Springs Preserve.

CENTENNIAL POINT HOA GARAGE SALE SET

The Centennial Point Homeowners Association plans a community garage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The association is on Grand Teton Drive near Grand Canyon Drive.

AARP PLANS DRIVING COURSE

AARP plans to host a driving course from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

The course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.

ANNUAL WOMEN'S SUIT DRIVE PLANNED

The United Way of Southern Nevada's Women's Leadership Council plans its fifth annual women's suit drive from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the NV Energy parking lot at 6226 W. Sahara Ave.

New and gently used suits will be collected to assist women in need.

The drive plans to help women prepare for career opportunities and gain confidence to succeed during an interview and in the workplace.

Donations will benefit United Way accredited agencies with back-to-work programs, including Goodwill Career Connections, HopeLink, S.A.F.E. House, Safe Nest, The Shade Tree, The Women's Development Center and the Work Opportunities Readiness Center of Southern Nevada. Last year's drive collected more than 5,700 professional items.
