$15 RABIES SHOTS FOR PETS
TO BE OFFERED DURING SATURDAY CLINIC
A pet vaccination clinic is planned for 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the newly renovated Petco, 7731 W. Tropical Parkway. Rabies vaccinations are slated to cost $15.
Dog adoptions are to be conducted each Saturday, and cats looking for new homes will be available each Saturday and Sunday.

SHOWING OF DOCUMENTARY TO INCLUDE QUESTION-AND-ANSWER SESSION
Filmmaker Jose Jaramillo is scheduled to show his documentary on the Mayan calendar "The Alignment Within" and conduct a question-and-answer session at 7 p.m. Friday at the Las Vegas Center for Spiritual Living, 4325 N. Rancho Drive, Suite 110.

FOOD, HYGIENE AND TOILETRY ITEMS
TO BE COLLECTED FOR VETERANS
Donations of nonperishable food and hygiene or toiletry items will be collected through May 31 at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive, to benefit veterans.
Participants can drop off the new items at the center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

CHURCH PLANS CRAFT AND YARD SALE
Westminster Presbyterian Church plans a craft and yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 4601 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
Vendors need not be affiliated with the church and may sell any legal product except food.
A donation of $10 will be requested if the vendor provides his own table, $15 if the church provides one.

HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS PLAN
SKILL CLINICS AT 24 HOUR FITNESS
Skill clinics with the Harlem Globetrotters are planned from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. June 25-27 at 24 Hour Fitness, 2090 Village Center Circle.
Participants 6 to 14 are invited to learn about the importance of staying active and eating healthy and the Globetrotters' basketball skills and tricks.
Clinics also are planned during the same times June 28-29 at the 24 Hour Fitness at 5651 Centennial Center Blvd.
As part of the partnership, the Globetrotters will offer participants a voucher for a complimentary ticket to a 2013 World Tour game. Additionally, 24 Hour Fitness will offer free three-day passes.

DEFENDING FREEDOM MEMORIAL DEDICATION SET FOR SATURDAY
The seventh annual Defending Freedom Memorial rededication ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, 1000 Scenic Loop Drive.
The ceremony will add names to the memorial, which honors soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors.
The ceremony is open to the public and is sponsored by Phil Randazzo and the Nevada Benefits Foundation.
Entrance to the park is free for the event, but visitors must notify the park ranger that they are there for the memorial.

ANNUAL LANDSCAPE CONTEST TAKING APPLICATIONS THROUGH MONDAY
Applications for the Southern Nevada Water Authority's 14th annual Landscape Awards competition are being taken through Monday.
The awards honor residential and professional water-efficient landscapes that are attractive and functional.
Participants can be from Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Laughlin and unincorporated Clark County.

RED ROCK CANYON PHOTO CONTEST DEADLINE IS THIS WEEKEND
Entries for the 2012 Red Rock Canyon photo contest will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center, 1000 Scenic Loop Drive.
Entries must be 8 inches by 10 inches or 8 inches by 12 inches and be framed and matted with a mat size of 11 inches by 14 inches. The entry fee is $10 per piece for adults and $5 per piece for teens 13 to 18. Payment will be accepted by cash, credit card or money order.
