EARLY REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER CAMPS PLANNED FOR THURSDAY

Early registration for the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department's overnight camps in July is set for noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mountain Crest Neighborhood Services Center, 4701 N. Durango Drive.

The cost is $375. When open registration commences March 1, the price will be $400. The fee includes meals, snacks, activities, supplies and an official camp T-shirt.

Omni Discovery Camp, for ages 8 to 12, is to take place from July 22-27, and the On the Edge Camp, for ages 13 to 15, is set for July 15-20.

Both camps will take place at Camp Lee Canyon, about 45 minutes from Las Vegas.

KIDS' STUFFED ANIMALS TO HAVE SLEEPOVER

Kids up to age 11 are welcome to bring a stuffed animal to spend the night for the Stuffed Animal Sleepover story time planned for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Hills Library, 6711 N. Buffalo Drive.

Each animal is to hang out overnight with Young People's Library staff members as their baby sitters. Owners return the next morning to pick up their animals and find out what they did.

Space is limited, and passes will be given out one-half hour before the program.

CENTENNIAL HILLS ROTARY CLUB TO MEET

The Centennial Hills Rotary Club of Las Vegas meets at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at the Silverstone Golf Club, 8600 Cupp Drive.

RESORT ON MOUNT CHARLESTON OFFERS DEAL WITH FREE SKI RESORT TICKETS

Residents can book a deluxe room with the full-service Resort on Mount Charleston, 2275 Kyle Canyon Road, and receive two single-day lift tickets to the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, 6725 Lee Canyon Road, through April 30.

Participants need to request the "Ski & Stay Package" to utilize the deal and must be 18 or older. Room rates may be higher Saturday and Sunday nights.

VOLUNTEERS TO OFFERS ASSISTANCE
WITH TAX PREPARATION

Low- to moderate-income residents in Ward 6 can have their taxes prepared for free thanks to the city of Las Vegas.

Schedule an appointment through the office of City Councilman Steve Ross, Ward 6, for assistance from certified Internal Revenue Service volunteers at the Centennial Hills Community Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

Individuals whose income is $50,000 or less are eligible.

Participants are to bring valid identification, all 2011 W-2 and 1099 forms, day care payment records and any other tax-relevant materials. If filing jointly, both spouses must be present.

CITY RECEIVES ADOPTIVE RECREATION GRANT

The city of Las Vegas' Adaptive Recreation Program received a $5,000 grant Feb. 8 from the National Recreation and Park Association's 2012 Parks: Return and Restore Program.

Because of the grant, the city plans to provide enrollment in its active recreation sports to injured military personnel free while grant funds last.

Programs include fishing clinics, one-on-one swimming lessons, quad rugby, golf and more.

E BUNNY GEARS UP FOR EASTER OUTREACH

The E BUNNY, a grass-roots community outreach program, has helped make Easter fun for thousands of children in need for 22 years.

Donations of pre-packaged Easter baskets, which can be purchased at any grocery, drugstore or general department store, are needed.

The E BUNNY delivers Easter baskets to facilities such as the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Sunrise Children's Hospital, Clark County Social Services and Straight from the Streets. In addition, baskets are given to children living in temporary housing and shelters in the poorest areas of Las Vegas and Henderson.
