Chachas plays up business credentials in radio ads

Wall Street banker John Chachas plays up his business background in a series of seven radio ads he'll run to make his final pitch for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race, where he's a long-shot to pick up many votes.

An Ely native, Chachas returned home to compete in the crowded GOP primary to win the right to face Democrat Sen. Harry Reid in the fall.

Polls show him far behind the three Republican leaders in the race – Sue Lowden, Sharron Angle and Danny Tarkanian. But Chachas has continued to campaign vigorously and he's been included in all the major debates as a dark-horse contender who's partly funding his own bid for office.

In the radio ads, Chachas is interviewed about his ideas on everything from how to control federal spending to whether he wants to repeal the new health care law.

He says the government must freeze spending at 2005 levels – just as some businesses have had to do to make ends meet in economic hard times, for example.

And Chachas says he would work to repeal the health care law, but he also proposes solutions like letting people buy health insurance across state lines.

"Basically, you need to have some business people in Washington and not a bunch of politicians," Chachas says in one ad that sums up his argument for voting for him.
